Midland Country Club is friendly and challenging and the only 9-hole golf course located in Pinehurst. It sits only minutes away from the historic Village of Pinehurst east of the traffic circle on Midland Road. Since it’s founding in 1895, Pinehurst has been synonymous with golf. Founded by James Walker Tufts, Pinehurst has grown into the undisputed Home of American Golf. Donald Ross, the famed golf course designer, laid out Pinehurst Courses 1, 2, and 3 between 1898 and 1910. Pinehurst No. 2 rising to the rank of Championship level play, hosting several U.S. Opens. These two legends vision for golf in the Sandhills area of North Carolina became a reality in short order and visitors flocked to Pinehurst. Pinehurst No. 4, recently redesigned by Gil Hanse in 2018, also boasts challenging play in a natural Sandhills setting. As of 2019, Pinehurst is home to nine courses in all, each with it’s own unique beauty and challenges.
